We are Back at Camp! J
Hi Campers! To our surprise we arrived back at camp last week in the midst of a snowstorm! However, the snow has since melted and the ice is off the lake! A group of guys and gals are working hard to open Tan for our school groups that begin in another week! Lots of raking, clean up, repairs, cleaning and setting up to be done! Camp survived the winter quite we and we luckily had very little snow damage. We are now settled in and have warm sunny and fun thoughts of the season ahead! Just so you know-our Oakville office remains open all summer. Karen will be there to answer general questions for you. All fee related information should also be directed to the Oakville number. We do try to be very detailed in our information Parent Bulletin so we would encourage you to check there first. Some of the questions that we do get and where to find an answer: · Fees and fee related questions-Oakville · Specific Camper Information/Concerns -North · All forms and related information-North · Faxes for CHANGES in transportation-Oakville and they must be in writing and received at least 72 hours before. · Airline information –North-in writing at least two weeks before your daughters arrival · Cabin information-North-in writing immediately and preferably on the Camper Information Form. NO cabin requests will be taken over the phone. · Cabin assignments are given out at camp. Please DO NOT call camp or the office to enquire about cabin placement. The camp does it’s very best to accommodate all mutual requests. The staff has all been hired and we can’t wait to get started with our planning! We send our love to you! Have a fun and safe end to the school year! TanamaHugs J xo
J SUGGESTIONS &COMMENTS FOR YOU! J · Green socks are NOT mandatory (however, socks should be worn with shoes for health reasons) · Bug shirts and pants are AWESOME! We encourage you to pick up a set for camp! They are cool to wear over a t-shirt and shorts when the evenings are hot. Tanamakoon has a long sleeve and long pants (West Nile Style) policy for after dinner programs. · Dunnage bags are like large hockey bags. These are essential for packing your sleeping bag and last minute items on the last morning of camp. The majority of your luggage ALWAYS goes out the day before you leave. · READ the CAMPER NEWS DAISY on a regular basis! There are always notes and reminders for parents and campers!
Ashley Garrod May 30,1985 to September 11, 2007 Our most sincere thank you to all of you that sent emails, letters, cards and donations. Your support during the past winter has been very comforting. This tragedy saddened hundreds of campers and counselors. Ashley’s memory will live on at Tanamakoon through an award named in her memory. “The Spirit of The Sioux” will be awarded to an outstanding Sioux camper at our end of summer Final Council Fire. A quiet sitting area in front of the Sioux cabins will also be in place for next summer. The students from Fernhill School planted a tree there in September in memory of Ashley and her dedication to our Outdoor Education program. Donations in memory of Ashley may still be made to the AMICI Charity and The Tanamakoon Charitable Foundation. You can find details on our website by clicking on In Memory of Ashley Garrod.
