“There’s nothing quite as special as a friend of summer days”

HEATHER MENEAR

February 22,1984- April 4,2009

Once again our Tanamakoon community has been struck by tragedy.  Heather Menear died in a motor vehicle – pedestrian accident in Toronto in the early morning of April 4th, 2009.

Heather loved Tanamakoon.  Her days as a camper were filled with happy memories and lifelong friendships.  As a camper, she enjoyed camp activities and was an avid canoe tripper.

Heather was a Shawnee & Cree Counselor during her years on staff.  With her lifelong camp friends, Laura Macchione, Meg Deeks and Tory Gossage, Heather provided leadership to the counselors and campers alike.  Heather was a loving and gentle role model for all of her campers.   Her soft voice, beautiful smile and happiness with life will be remembered by all of us who knew her.  Our sadness deepens thinking of her mother Lea, who was also a Tanamakoon camper and counselor, father Bill, brother Ian and sisters Robyn and Kate.  Life is precious.
