On A small lake all on its own, in the heart of Algonquin Park, Tanamakoon offers a peaceful setting for participants who want to enjoy a week in the outdoors.

Program

For over eighteen years Tanamakoon has offered programs for seniors through Elderhostel. The program is often referred to as a kaleidoscope of activities that reflects the history, magic and mystery of Algonquin Park. The flexible program allows you to choose to simply relax or to be involved in a variety of outdoor activities. One on one instruction is offered in all areas by our very skilled and talented staff. Participants can also enjoy exciting day trips to explore the flora, fauna and birds of Algonquin Park. Guest naturalists will lead vivid natural history presentations and hikes.

 Confirmation packages containing details regarding travel, health, dietary concerns and program will be mailed upon registration.

Travel
Tanamakoon is situated 25km. inside the West Gates of Algonquin Park on Hwy 60. The trip is three hours from Toronto and cars may be parked at the Cache Lake Landing. For those traveling by plane or bus, transportation to our site can bee arranged from Toronto Airport or the Huntsville train/bus station.

Accommodation
Senior adults live in heated cabins by the lake. Accommodation can be booked for single, double or group.

Activities Offered with skilled instruction

Our energetic and creative staff  will provide a variety of evening activities for those that wish to join us! Boat cruises, fishing, cookouts and music are only some of the added features of the program!

For those who know and love Algonquin this is a chance to gain a new appreciation of the Park. For those who have always wanted to visit, a reasonably priced, active week of learning awaits you!

Whether new to Algonquin or a seasoned visitor we are confident that our hands on program will give you renewed energy, new friends and a deeper awareness for Ontario's most famous wilderness area!

Facilities
Other site features include a tennis court, canoes, paddleboats, kayaks and walking trails. There are several buildings that are set up for relaxing and recreational use.

Meals
Delicious home-style meals and snacks are served in our dinning hall. Our chefs can accommodate most dietary concerns and resulting menu changes.

Other Attractions
Algonquin Park provides many attractions for the public. There is time built into our program to see the Visitors Centre and The Logging Exhibit or to visit some of the historical sites in the Park.
